SPARC to assist in Slum Titling of 5 more districts in Odisha
Posted on: 25 May 2018
Sir Ratan Tata Trust has entrusted the slum land rights assessment task to SPARC for 5 more districts (Baragarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Koraput and Sambalpur) in the 2nd phase. SPARC has been extending similar support to the Government of Odisha in assessment of land rights of slum dwellers in 9 districts through Sir Ratan Tata Trust.
Drone mapping technique is being deployed for accurate results about the area occupied by slum dwellers. The orthoimages generated shall be integrated with slum household information through a GIS application to generate a slum land settlement proposal.
The assignment has been initiated after the Government of Odisha passed the Odisha Land Rights to Slum Dwellers Act in October 2017. The project aims at providing legal land rights to about 60,000 landless slum households in various NACs and Municipalities in the above-mentioned districts.
