SPARC's Innovative Crop Monitoring System Earns Global Recognition

Bhubaneswar, Odisha - SPARC, in collaboration with the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department, Government of Odisha, Odisha Space Applications Centre (ORSAC), Planet, and CSM Tech, has developed a pioneering crop monitoring system that has received global recognition. Integrating satellite imagery with AI/ML algorithms, the solution enhances real-time crop assessment, ensuring precise procurement and significant cost savings. In 2022, it identified misreporting of 865,000 metric tons of paddy, saving the government INR 1,700 crores (USD 206 million). This milestone underscores SPARC’s commitment to technological innovation in agricultural governance.
