IMFA is one of the major Ferro Alloys company of the state has been allotted a mine lease in the chormalda locality of keonjhar district. The assignment involved study of the forest land involvement in the mine prospecting region for diversion purpose. Preparation of geo-referenced forest land map through DGPS survey as per the guidelines of the MoEF involved identification & establishment of primary control points (PCP) within the project with reference to the ORSAC known points, identification of the secondary control points and DGPS observations of the permanent ground features for the revenue cadastral maps involved in the project and subsequent differential corrections with the corresponding base station observation through the post-processing methods. Geo-referencing of the revenue cadastral maps for delineation of the forest land followed by staking-out and demarcation of the forest boundary through RTK based DGPS devices. The outcome of the survey was used to generate the slurry pipeline alignment map on a cadastral base showing the forest land involved along with the forest boundary coordinates.
The GIS based forest land study helped in
- Exact delineation of the forest land involved in the iron ore mine along with identification of the change point coordinates of the forest land involved
- Compliance to the MoEF for approval
