Case Summary

Power transmission alignment involves detailed study of the topographic feature of the land to identify the geographical interference such as hills, forests as well as the location of settlements along the network to facilitate the power distribution. The GIS based system facilitated the detailed topographic study of the alignment network through integration of the Survey of India topographic maps. Once the alignment route is finalized, the alignment is superimposed with the geo-referenced village revenue cadastral maps (carried out through DGPS survey of the proposed power line alignment) to identify the involvement of the plots. The integration of the digitized land schedule in the GIS environment also depicts the land details such as the village name, plot number, land type and land classification for initiating the land acquisition/ alienation process.
