Client: National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO)
Case Summary

National Aluminium Company Limited has been allotted a Bauxite mine lease in the Panchpatamali area of Damanjodi in Odisha. Preparation of the Forest Diversion proposal for the bauxite lease area involved preparation of Geo-referenced map for submission to MoEF. The process involved identification & establishment of primary control points (PCP) within the lease area with reference to the ORSAC known point coordinates, identification of the secondary control points and DGPS observations of the permanent ground features for the revenue cadastral maps involved in the project. Geo-referencing of the revenue cadastral maps for delineation of the forest land followed by staking-out and demarcation of the reserve forest boundary passing through the lease area through RTK based DGPS devices. The outcome of the survey was used to generate the slurry pipeline alignment map on a cadastral base showing the forest land involved along with the forest boundary coordinates.

The GIS/DGPS based geo-referencing of the mine lease area helped in

  • Delineation of the forest land involved in the Bauxite mine lease area along with identification of the change point coordinates of the forest land within the Bauxite mine
  • Compliance to the MoEF for approval
