The assignment involved geo-spatial database development of water supply infrastructure of the Jharsuguda town covering water source, overhead tasks, ground water reservoirs, treatment facilities, trunk lines, public stand post. The task involved geo-referencing of the High Resolution Satellite Image and generation of base map through delineation of the water supply network. The attribute database collected against each of the installed water supply equipments were linked with the corresponding spatial entities to generate the GIS database for the water The water supply network database developed in the above process, was integrated with a GIS application to manage the water supply network through provision of functionalities such as feature identification, feature search, gap-area analysis, attribute based query functionality through a simple query builder. The GIS based water supply network system was utilized for planning of water supply infrastructure by PHED in Jharsuguda city.
