Orissa Integrated Power Limited (OIPL) an SPV of the Power Finance Corporation, Govt. of India had approached the State Govt. for establishment of a Ultra Mega Thermal power Project with capacity of 4000 MW in Sundargarh district. The State Govt. after interactions with the PFC and the district administration had finalized two alternative sites for establishment of the plant. The assignment involved preparation of a GIS based Land Information system to depict the comparative spatial information/ land information details of both the alternate sites to enable the authorities to select the most suitable site for the purpose. The Information system provides detailed thematic representation of the concerned sites along with query and reporting facilities.

- Visual representation of the land status for the alternative sites through accumulation of spatial information from different secondary sources such as Satellite Imagery, SOI topographic maps, revenue village cadastral maps
