Case Summary

The assignment involved macro planning of irrigation system through alignments planning for distribution system (main canal, minor and sub minors) based on secondary information available through the Survey of India topographic maps. Topographic survey of the canal systems were carried out to generate LS and CS profiles of canals along with the land acquisition need. The activities also involved preparation of designed statement with design of canal structures (VRB's, CD's, head regulators, cross regulators, outlets, etc) along with documentation of filing of land acquisition.

The GIS based irrigation canal network helped in

  • Planning of the canal alignment as per the topography
  • GIS database for implementation plan
