Client: Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation(IDCO)
Case Summary

IDCO acts as the nodal agency of the state Govt. for allotment of land for the Industries in the state. IDCO has allotted land to a large number of industries at different locations and many other industries have applied for land. Due to the complicacies of land acquisition/alienation process, proper monitoring of the financial/ physical progress of each of the application has become a major challenge for the authorities. A GIS based land Information System was developed to map the available land, industrial land allocation and the utilities/ infrastructure facilities developed on the concerned land. Additional information related to the payment details, tracking of communications etc. also enables the authorities for proper land management. The system forms a platform for the land governance activities such as processing of Land Acquisition/ Alienation, documentation and filing of Forest Diversion Proposal etc.

The GIS based industrial land information system helped in

  • GIS based land status of the allotted parcels along with the allotment details
  • Visual monitoring of the land alienation/ acquisition process
  • Proper decision making through availability of near-real time land status information
  • Support to Land Governance processes
