Case Summary

Paradip is major port town of eastern India. Paradip Region is rapidly growing due to Paradip port and port bound industries (IFFCO, PPL, IOCL, Essar Steel etc.) POSCO has also planned to establish a 12 MTPA Steel plant in this region. The H&UD Dept. of Odisha wants to control and regulate the development in this region. Therefore a master plan of the region was prepared with a vision upto 2030. Preparation of Master Plan involves Land use plan, Housing Plan, Traffic & Transportation Plan, Water Resource Development & Drainage Plan, Environment Plan, Solid Waste Management Plan, Social Infrastructure, Zoning Regulation, Utility Service Plan, Economic Plan, Disaster Management Plan and Slum Development Plan confirming to ICZMP.

The GIS based city development plan helped in

  • Current status analysis through identification of the land use
  • GIS based master planning of the city infrastructure/ facilities
  • Platform for monitoring/ management of developmental implementation plan
