The Fatepur East Coal Pvt. Ltd., has been issued coal blocks in the state of Chhattisgarh. The land allotted to the company for the purpose, involved forest land which attracted for the prior permission from the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Govt. of India. As per the guidelines issued by the MoEF, the Forest Diversion Proposal required to be submitted to the MoEF should include geo-referenced forest land map of the diverted forest land along with the proposed compensatory forest area. Preparation of geo-referenced forest land map through DGPS survey as per the guidelines of the MoEF involved identification & establishment of primary control points (PCP) within the project area through 72hr observation of the base station DGPS device, identification of the secondary control points and DGPS observations of the permanent ground features for the revenue cadastral maps involved in the project and subsequent differential corrections with the corresponding base station observation through the post-processing methods. Geo-referencing of the revenue cadastral maps for delineation of the forest land followed by staking-out and demarcation of the forest boundary through RTK based DGPS devices. The outcome of the survey was used to generate the slurry pipeline alignment map on a cadastral base showing the forest land involved along with the forest boundary coordinates.
The GIS/DGPS based environmental study of the iron ore mine helped in
- Exact delineation of the forest land involved in the Coal block along with identification of the change point coordinates of the forest land involved in the lease area
- Compliance to the MoEF for approval
