Indian Oil Corporation has established an oil refinery at Paradip coast of Odisha. The company has established oil pipe lines for transportation of the oil. The assignment involved preparation of the maps and documents with reference to the Survey of India (SOI) Topographic Maps, Revenue village Cadastral maps involved in the project area, High Resolution Satellite Imagery for submission along with the Part-I documents to the Nodal Officer, State Forest Department. Preparation of the Geo-referenced map involved identification & establishment of primary control points (PCP) along the slurry pipe line with reference to the ORSAC known points (SOI national grid), identification of the secondary control points and DGPS observations of the permanent ground features for the revenue cadastral maps involved in the project. Geo-referencing of the revenue cadastral maps for delineation of the forest land followed by staking-out and demarcation of the forest boundary through RTK based DGPS devices. The outcome of the survey was used to generate the slurry pipeline alignment map on a cadastral base showing the forest land involved along with the forest boundary coordinates.
The GIS/DGPS based mapping of oil pipeline corridor helped in
- Delineation of the forest land involved in the oil pipeline along with identification of the change point coordinates along the alignment
- Compliance to the MoEF for approval
