Case Summary

The assignment involved preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for 24/7 Water Supply Scheme for Puri and Bhubaneswar City under JnNURM for the Government of Odisha in conformity with the approved CDP. SPARC prepared the detailed project report (DPR). The scope of the work included assessment of the current status of water supply systems in Bhubaneshwar and Puri towns with reference to all major aspects like institutional, technical, financial, citizen orientation, organizational capacity and service delivery to the poor. Development of GIS based Water Supply Utility Management System covering spatial representation of the pipelines with attributes installed infrastructure/ equipments with relevant data. GIS based planning involving augmentation/ modification of the existing water supply network along with preparation of Action plan and Investment program to facilitate continuous water supply in these urban cities.

The GIS based Water Supply System helped in

  • Accurate assessment of the existing Water Supply network infrastructure (pipeline/ equipments)
  • GIS based demand/ supply oriented Gap-area Analysis to represent the un-served/ inadequately served areas
  • Efficient planning and accurate cost estimation
  • The GIS database on Water Supply network forms the basis for development of the appropriate Implementation Plan
