Client: Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. , Govt. of Odisha
Case Summary

OPTCL is the Govt. owned power transmission company of the Odisha state and has about 11,000Ckt Km of transmission line within the state. The assignment involved preparation of geo-referenced map of the forest land involved in the Sambalpur – Rajgangpur power line corridor for forest diversion purpose. The process involves DGPS survey as per the guidelines of the MoEF with identification & establishment of primary control points (PCP) along the power corridor with reference to the ORSAC known points, identification of the secondary control points and DGPS observations of the permanent ground features for the revenue cadastral maps involved in the project and subsequent differential corrections with the corresponding base station observation through the post-processing methods. Geo-referencing of the revenue cadastral maps for delineation of the forest land followed by staking-out and demarcation of the forest boundary through RTK based DGPS devices. The outcome of the survey was used to generate the power transmission line alignment map on a cadastral base showing the forest land involved along with the forest boundary coordinates.

The GIS based forest land study helped in

  • Exact delineation of the forest land involved in the power transmission corridor along with identification of the change point coordinates of the forest land involved
  • Compliance to the MoEF for approval
